Five home builder website designs compared on finished homes, floor plans and the budget and land enquiry: what works, what is missing, and a brief.
Someone looking at a home builder's site wants to see what you have built, understand the plans and stages, and find out whether their budget and land are realistic before they call. These designs each handle that differently.
We picked five sample sites from our library that each build a different kind of home (custom on the owner's lot, modular, handcrafted log, tiny homes on trailers, and a general builder who also remodels). We left out barn and addition builders because they do not sell new homes, and we did not find a catalogue template that is a new home builder. For each we read the live sample and noted the first button, how budget is handled and what a visitor cannot do. None of these samples lists homes available now; that is a gap to fill with your own inventory. Checked 27 September 2026. Every design here is from the We.Inc library and is labelled as a sample or template. None is a customer site, and no entry claims results.

Task: A family with a lot, or about to buy one, who wants a number they can trust.
Design choice: "Your house, your lot, a number you can trust" with "Start a conversation". A $1,500 "Feasibility and lot review" comes before design, and the close is "Let's talk about your lot".
Limitation: "See past homes" is a button, but the sample has no gallery of finished homes behind it. You need your own photos.

Task: A buyer with land who wants to move in sooner.
Design choice: "Built indoors, set in a day, finished in weeks" with "Get a price" and "Tour a model". The section "Land, foundation, set, finish" lays out the build stages in order, and the plans are named by type (ranch, two story) with size ranges.
Limitation: No floor plan drawings, only size ranges. Buyers choosing a plan will want to see the layouts.

Task: A buyer planning a log home who wants to see the craft first.
Design choice: "A log home that still looks right in year forty" with "Request a quote" and "See the yard". Packages run from shell to "keys in your hand", so the buyer picks how far the builder goes.
Limitation: The close offers to put visitors in touch with past owners, but there is no project gallery. Add finished homes with your own photos.

Task: Someone who wants a tiny home but is unsure where they can legally park it.
Design choice: "Small house, built for real winters" with "Get a build quote" and "Tour the shop". It names "Four floor plans" and answers "Where can I legally park a tiny house?" first in the FAQ.
Limitation: The four floor plans are mentioned but not shown. Add a plan page with drawings and dimensions.

Task: A homeowner deciding between a new build and a big remodel.
Design choice: The headline promises schedule clarity ("You will know what week the drywall goes up") and new builds, remodels and additions sit together, with "Request a bid" as the main button.
Limitation: Like the others, "See past projects" has no gallery behind it, and new homes share space with remodel work.

A website for [company name], a home builder in [region]. Lead with how we build and what a buyer gets. Show finished homes in a gallery and, separately, any homes available now with status (under construction, move-in ready). Add a floor plans page with each plan's drawing, size and bedrooms, and explain the build stages in order. Add an enquiry form asking for lot address or target area, budget range, timeline and whether the land is bought. Include an FAQ on cost, timeline and financing, plus the counties we build in.
| Homes available now | A page you update yourself. It is not an MLS feed and does not sync with listing sites. |
| Budget enquiries | A form that emails you. It does not run cost estimates or pre-approve financing. |
| Publishing for free | Free plan: up to 3 template sites on a we.inc address. No AI credits and no custom domain. |
| Having the AI write and change the site | Paid plans: Starter $20/mo, Pro $50/mo, Max $99/mo. You describe the business, then edit by clicking or by asking in chat. |
| Your own domain | Paid plans only. |
| Taking payments | Through your own Stripe account, so the money goes to you. We.Inc does not hold funds. |
| Forms | The AI builds contact and request forms. A synced booking calendar is not built in: link the scheduling tool you already use. |
The Halstead sample says no, and that it is often better to involve the builder during design. On your site, say what you need from a buyer at the first meeting.
The Northline sample explains that modular homes are built to the same residential code as site built houses and sit on a permanent foundation. If you build modular, answer this on your own site with your state's code.
