How to Add the Snap Pixel to Your Website

Snapchat ads report website results through the Snap Pixel. Copy the pixel ID or base code from Events Manager in Snapchat Ads Manager, place it on every page, and the base code sends a PAGE_VIEW on each load. Snap recommends adding its Conversions API alongside the pixel for fuller numbers.

Updated

Snapchat skews young, and many of its users browse on phones where tracking is often limited. That is why Snap pushes advertisers to run its server-side Conversions API next to the browser pixel rather than relying on the pixel alone.

Add the Snap Pixel on We.Inc, WordPress, Wix, Squarespace or plain HTML

We.Inc

  1. Click "..." in the builder and select Add-ons.
  2. Open Snap Pixel and paste your pixel ID.
  3. Enable it; the built-in consent banner comes on too, since Snap needs opt-in.
  4. Publish, then test the live site with Snap Pixel Helper.

WordPress

  1. From Plugins, Add Plugin, install a plugin that adds code to the site header.
  2. Paste the Snap base code into it and save.
  3. Purge your cache and load the home page with Snap Pixel Helper on.

A paid plan is required to add plugins on WordPress.com.

Wix

  1. Open Settings and click Custom Code.
  2. Use + Add Custom Code, paste the base code, select All pages and Head.
  3. Apply and publish.

Wix custom code needs a published site on a connected domain (premium plan).

Squarespace

  1. Go to Code Injection in the Custom Code area at the bottom of the Pages panel.
  2. Paste the base code in Header and save.

Only Core, Plus and Advanced plans include Code Injection.

Plain HTML

  1. Add the base code inside <head> on each page.
  2. In a single-page app, call snaptr('track', 'PAGE_VIEW') after every route change.
  3. Deploy and verify in Events Manager.

Page views in a single-page app

Call this from your router's navigation hook, after the base code has loaded once.

router.afterEach(() => {
  snaptr('track', 'PAGE_VIEW');
});

Single-page apps need one extra call

The base code fires PAGE_VIEW when the page loads. On a site that changes pages without a full reload, such as a React app, later screens are invisible unless you send snaptr('track', 'PAGE_VIEW') on each route change.

Snap's Conversions API accepts only a fixed list of event names, so match your browser events to that list if you plan to deduplicate them later.

Consent

Snap's pixel is ad tracking; visitors from the EU and UK need to give consent before it fires. Set up a banner first using /guides/how-to-add-cookie-banner-to-website.

How it works

  1. Open Events Manager in Snapchat Ads Manager and create or select a pixel.
  2. Copy the pixel ID, or the base code for manual installs.
  3. Install it site-wide.
  4. Add events for sign-ups or purchases on the success pages.
  5. Check with the Snap Pixel Helper extension and Events Manager.

Tips

  • Events can take hours to appear in Events Manager, so a quiet dashboard right after install is not proof of failure.
  • If you generate a Conversions API token, keep it on a server; never put it in page code.
  • Run the Snap Pixel Helper on the live domain, not the editor preview, where scripts often do not load.

Frequently asked questions

Where do I find my Snap Pixel ID?

In Snapchat Ads Manager, open Events Manager and select the pixel. The ID is a long string shown with the pixel's details and inside the base code.

Do I need the Conversions API as well?

It is optional, but Snap recommends it for web advertisers because it captures events that browsers block. You need a Snap Business Manager account to create the token.

Why does Snap show fewer conversions than my site?

Blockers, declined consent and app browsers all hide browser events. Adding the Conversions API narrows the gap, but numbers between tools never match exactly.
