Whatever you pick, confirm the price wix.com/plans shows for your country, because Wix sets prices by location.
Light is for a simple brochure site on your own domain. Core is the first plan that takes payments, so it is where most small businesses and stores start. Business adds more storage and collaborators for a growing shop, and Business Elite is for high-volume stores and larger teams.
Wix's own plans page says prices and currency vary by location, and the page we were served on September 25 listed tax-inclusive prices for another region. That is why blog posts quote different Wix prices. The only reliable number is the one wix.com/plans shows you, logged in from your own country.
The free plan lets you build and publish a full site with the Wix editor on a Wix address, with Wix branding. It cannot connect your own domain or take payments. It is a good way to try Wix, less good as a permanent business site.

Prices only tell you half the story. The fairest way to judge Wix is to give it the same small job you would give any builder: a five-page website for a local service business (home, services, about, reviews and contact).
1. Build the service list with a price or short description for each service. 2. Add a quote request form and send yourself a test entry to check it arrives. 3. Connect a custom domain and confirm the site loads on it with a padlock. 4. Change one piece of content, such as a new service or opening hours, and time how long it takes. 5. Check the result on a phone.
Note which plan each step needed. That tells you the plan you will really pay for, which is often not the cheapest one advertised. When the site is live, run it through our free website grader to check search basics and speed.
Wix hosts the site on its own system and adds features through the Wix App Market. You can use a domain bought elsewhere. There is no export that lets you run the whole site on another host, and switching templates once a site is built is hard, so a redesign or a move usually means rebuilding. Weigh that if you expect the site to change a lot.
