Estimate what ranking for a keyword could be worth. Enter how many people search each month, the position you expect to reach, your conversion rate and the value of one sale or lead. The calculator turns that into visits, sales and revenue, compares them with what the SEO work costs each month, and shows the return and the month the work pays for itself.
The chain has four links: searches, clicks, conversions and value. Each link multiplies the one before. A keyword with 10,000 monthly searches, ranked first, with a 28 percent click-through rate sends about 2,800 visits. At a 2 percent conversion rate those visits become 56 sales or leads, and at $100 each that is $5,600 a month. Change any link and the whole answer moves.
That is why the position matters so much. Moving from position 8 to position 3 can multiply the clicks several times over, because click-through rates fall steeply down the first page. The table in this tool is deliberately simple. For a real forecast, replace it with the click-through rate you see in Search Console for similar pages on your own site.
The first months of SEO usually cost money and return little, because pages take time to be found, ranked and trusted. The ramp-up setting captures that shape. A longer ramp pushes the payback month later and lowers the return over a short period, so try a few values to see how sensitive the answer is.
Look at the period you chose as well as the ratio. A return of 100 percent over 12 months can look smaller than 300 percent over 36 months, yet the longer period assumes rankings hold for three years. Content that keeps ranking continues to produce visits after the work stops, but only if nothing changes, which is the part no calculator can promise.
Visits = monthly searches x click-through rate for your position. The built-in table gives rough averages from about 28 percent at position 1 down to about 2 percent at position 10. For example, 10,000 searches at position 1 gives 10,000 x 0.28 = 2,800 visits a month. You can replace the table value with your own click-through rate.
ROI = (revenue - cost) / cost x 100. If SEO brings $67,200 of revenue over 12 months and costs $24,000, the return is (67,200 - 24,000) / 24,000 = 180 percent.
SEO does not reach full traffic on day one. With a 6-month ramp-up, month 1 delivers one sixth of the full visits, month 2 two sixths, and so on until month 6, after which visits stay at the full level. Set it to 0 to assume full traffic from the first month.
It is the first month in which total revenue so far is at least the total spent so far. If that never happens within the months you chose, the tool says so instead of guessing a later month.
No. It is a simple model built on averages you can change, and real rankings can be slower, faster or lost to competitors. Treat it as an estimate to compare scenarios and not as financial advice or a promise of results.
