Pros and cons

Google Workspace

Best for: Teams that want Gmail, Drive, Docs and Meet on their own domain

Price: Business Starter $7, Standard $14, Plus $22 per user a month on the annual plan; $8.40, $16.80, $26.40 flexible; checked Oct 28, 2026

Pros: Familiar Gmail and Docs for the whole team; Storage pooled across the organisation; 14-day free trial

Cons: Cost grows with every user you add; Flexible billing costs 20% more; Starter's 30 GB per user fills up quickly with shared files

We.Inc

Best for: People who need the website as well as the email address

Price: Free plan: up to 3 template sites on a we.inc address, no AI. AI building from $20/mo (Starter, 250 credits). Pro $50/mo, Max $99/mo.

Pros: Describe what you want in chat and AI builds a full, editable site or app; Edit by clicking on the page, by asking in chat, or in a real code editor; Export the React and TypeScript code to GitHub, so you are never locked in; Unlimited sites on paid plans, custom domains from Starter

Cons: The free plan is templates only; AI building needs a paid plan; Newer platform with a smaller app marketplace than the big names; Store features are simpler than a dedicated ecommerce platform

Annual or flexible: which plan to pick

The annual plan commits you to a year in exchange for the lower price. The flexible plan bills each month for the users you actually have, so it suits a team whose size changes, at a 20% higher price per user.

Google's pricing page also advertised a lower introductory price for new customers: $6.30 for Business Starter and $12.60 for Business Standard, for up to 20 users, before the list price applies. Read the offer terms on Google's page before relying on it.

What a small team really pays

On the annual plan at the prices above: three people on Business Starter cost $252 a year; ten people on Business Standard cost $1,680 a year. The same ten people on the flexible plan cost $2,016 a year.

Starter is enough if you mainly need email and a shared drive. Standard is the plan most teams move to for the much larger 2 TB storage allowance per user.

Do you need a domain first?

Business email on Workspace runs on a domain you own, such as [email protected]. You can connect a domain you already have, or buy one while signing up. Google's pricing page did not show what it charges for a domain on October 28, 2026, so compare its price at checkout with a registrar's renewal price; our domain renewal guide lists those.

Where We.Inc fits: the free plan publishes up to 3 template sites on a we.inc address, with no AI and no custom domain, and needs no credit card. AI building, where you describe the site and it is written for you, starts at $20 a month (Starter, 250 credits); Pro is $50 and Max is $99.

Who wrote this and how

We.Inc makes a competing website builder, so read this with that in mind. Every price on this page comes from the vendor's own pricing page on the date shown, with a link to it. We say where the other option is the better choice, and we do not publish scores for tests we have not run.
