Four financial advisor website designs, compared by what a new client needs to do

People looking for an advisor want to know how the advisor is paid, whether they have enough money to be taken on, and what a one-off plan costs compared with ongoing help. The four designs below answer those from a fee-only planning firm, a planner, a retirement specialist and an investment advisor.

How these were picked

Four sample sites from our library. We left out catalogue templates and showcase builds that did not show an advisory practice. For each we read the live sample and noted how fees are shown, how custody is explained and what a visitor still cannot do. Checked 27 September 2026. Every design here is from the We.Inc library and is labelled as a sample or template. None is a customer site, and no entry claims results.

1. Northfield Wealth Partners

Sample site built by our AI (made-up business). Open it

Task: A household near retirement comparing a one-off plan with ongoing help.

Design choice: "We are paid by you and nobody else" with "Book intro call" and "See our fees". Every service has a flat price: Comprehensive financial plan $4,800, Ongoing planning and management From $7,200/yr, Retirement income analysis $2,400, Hourly consultation $350/hour. The FAQ answers "What does fee only actually mean?" and "Who holds my money?".

Limitation: The intro call is booked by phone. Link a scheduling tool, and keep regulatory disclosures on the site as your rules require.

2. Northfield Wealth Partners of Minneapolis

Sample site built by our AI (made-up business). Open it

Task: A client who is worried about what happens in a bad market.

Design choice: "We are paid by you, and by nobody else" with "Schedule a call" and "How we charge". Comprehensive financial plan $4,500, Retirement income planning From $2,800, and an FAQ "What happens in a market downturn?".

Limitation: Ongoing planning and management has no price on the card. If you publish flat fees, show this one too.

3. Grove Street Retirement Planning

Sample site built by our AI (made-up business). Open it

Task: Someone about to retire who needs specific decisions made.

Design choice: "The hard part is not saving, it is spending it" with "Book a planning session". Single decisions are priced separately: Full retirement income plan $3,900, Social Security claiming analysis $650, Roth conversion mapping $1,200. The FAQ asks "Do you sell annuities or insurance?".

Limitation: Retirement only. An advisor serving younger clients would need other services and a different headline.

4. Cedar Bluff Investment Advisors

Sample site built by our AI (made-up business). Open it

Task: An investor who wants a second opinion on what they already hold.

Design choice: "A portfolio you can explain to yourself" with "Request a review". A Portfolio second opinion ($950) is a low-cost way in, and the FAQ answers "What does this actually cost me all in?" and "Can I keep my current accounts where they are?".

Limitation: Discretionary portfolio management has no fee on the card. Show how that fee is worked out.

Walkthrough: checking fees on the Northfield Wealth Partners sample

  1. The visitor lands on "We are paid by you and nobody else" with "Book intro call" and "See our fees".
  2. "Planning built around one household at a time" says fees are flat and quoted in writing, then lists each service with its price.
  3. "Small on purpose, and staying that way" explains the fee-only model and the household cap.
  4. The FAQ answers fee only, minimums, who holds the money and what happens at the intro call, then "Start with a conversation" gives hours.
  5. Gap to fix: add a scheduling link for the intro call and a short form (stage of life, what you need help with).

Questions

What does fee only actually mean?

The Northfield sample explains that all pay comes from client fees and none from products. If that is how you work, say it in your own words and point to where it can be checked.

Do I need a minimum amount of money?

The sample has no minimum for a plan or hourly work and explains when ongoing management makes sense. Write yours with your real minimums.

What makes this financial advisor website work

The first line answers "why you"

The first thing a visitor reads is "We are paid by you and nobody else", with "Fee only since 2012" set above it as a small label. The line underneath does the explaining: "Northfield is a fee only fiduciary firm. We do not sell insurance, we do not take commissions, and our fee is a flat number you approve before we begin." Two buttons follow, "Book intro call" for people ready to act and "See our fees" for people who want to look around first. The layout is a framed hero, with the headline beside a boxed video panel, using looping stock footage instead of a static photo.

Proof sits right under the fold

Directly below the hero, a strip of 4 short facts does the job most financial advisor sites leave to vague words like "trusted" or "experienced": 14 yrs (fee only practice), 0 (commissions accepted), 3 (CFP professionals) and 62 (planning households). Each one is something a customer can check or hold the business to.

Prices on the page, not "call for a quote"

The "Planning built around one household at a time" section lists 6 our services: Comprehensive financial plan ($4,800), Ongoing planning and management (From $7,200/yr), Retirement income analysis ($2,400), Equity compensation review ($1,950), Hourly consultation ($350/hour) and Annual plan refresh ($1,600). Prices run from $350 to $7,200, so a visitor can tell in seconds whether it fits the budget. A one-line note sets the terms: "Fees are flat and quoted in writing. Nothing we recommend pays us anything." Each item gets a sentence of its own, for example "Cash flow, tax, insurance and estate review with a written plan and two follow up meetings."

It explains who is behind it

Under the heading "Small on purpose, and staying that way", the about section says: "Northfield was founded in 2012 by advisors who left commission based firms and did not want to go back. We cap the practice at roughly seventy households so meetings do not get compressed." It then lists 3 concrete points instead of a paragraph of values: fee only fiduciary, no commissions or product sales, flat fees quoted in writing before any engagement and household cap so your advisor has time for your questions.

Reviews name the detail

There are 3 reviews, each signed with a name and a context (Paul S., retired 2024; Anita R., equity compensation client; Dale W., planning client). None of them says "great service". They mention a specific moment, like "They mapped out my RSU vesting against my tax bracket and saved me a five figure mistake I was about to make."

The FAQ handles objections

The FAQ covers 4 questions: "What does fee only actually mean?", "Do I need a minimum amount of money?", "Who holds my money?" and "What happens at the intro call?". The answers are direct. The first one reads: "It means our entire compensation comes from the fees you pay us directly. We receive no commissions, referral payments or revenue sharing from any product we recommend."

The last step is obvious

The page closes on "Start with a conversation". It sets expectations before anyone gets in touch: "The intro call costs nothing and ends with a clear recommendation about what level of help you actually need." Hours are written out (Mon to Thu 8am to 5pm, Fri 8am to 12pm) and so is the area covered (Twin Cities metro, virtual meetings statewide). The phone number also sits in the header on every scroll position, so nobody has to hunt for it.

The design stays out of the way

The palette is three colors: a #f6f5f1 background, #1c2333 text and one accent (#1e4b8f) used only for buttons and labels. Headings are set in a serif face and buttons have 8px rounded corners. The menu has 6 items (Services, Pricing, About, Reviews, FAQ and Contact), all on one page, so it scrolls instead of making people click through.

Every service and price, as the site lists it
